Travelling to Our Château
Whichever map we chose may not cover your journey, we simply wished to show whereabouts in Normandy we are. As you will see, the château is very close to the coast and minutes from Deauville, or Trouville. There is also good access to major roads and to the coast road.
This helps with touring the area during your château holiday. Before that, you can choose the route to France that suits you.
Travelling to Normandy
In general, whilst there are last minute bargains, booking early can save money. With so many choices now by sea, air and le tunnel, most families have their favourite route. This depends on where you are starting from and personal taste, we have found that Brittany Ferries suits us.
Portsmouth to Caen-Ouistreham
A relaxing 6-hour journey, on The Normandie or the brand new Mont St Michel. Both have day cabins for snoozing, a cinema with newly released films, an excellent and modestly priced silver service restaurant and a holiday liner atmosphere. There is a pleasant drive of 22 miles, from the ferry port to the château. brittany-ferries.com
Newhaven or Rosslare to Le Havre
Our guests often arrive at Le Havre, because the departure ports mentioned above suit them better, or as an alternative route from Portsmouth. You will need to check availability according to the time of year, the drive to the château is about the same as from Caen. ldlines.co.uk
Eurotunnel Folkestone to Calais-Coquelles
eurotunnel.com take you through the tunnel in 35 minutes, 4 times an hour, 24 hours a day. There is however a fair drive from Calais to the château, about three and a half hours. There are many other contact options for ferry travel, well worth shopping around, with a few examples below:
